Rehearsing the overnight line on a demo (Pakistan)
A demo account is free, runs on virtual money and has no time limit — which makes it the natural place to watch what a rollover does to a position. It is also the place where one important question cannot be answered at all.
Use a demo to learn the shape of the thing: where the statement lists costs, what a position looks like after it has been carried through a turn of the day, and how the size field changes every figure. Do not use it to conclude anything about a real account’s swap-free status — that lives in the Personal Area, not in a practice terminal.
Setting it up for this particular purpose
- Open it with an email and a password. No documents are needed; the identity check belongs to a real account.
- Pick one symbol and stay with it. Comparisons across nights only mean something if the instrument is constant.
- Make the size uninteresting. The exercise is about which lines appear, not how large they are.
- Keep a note beside the screen. Symbol, size, spread at the open, and what you expect at the rollover. Without the note there is nothing to be right or wrong about.
Three rehearsals worth running
The same-day trade
Open and close inside a session. Read the statement: the spread is there, and no overnight line, because no rollover was crossed. This is the baseline the other two are measured against.
The one-night hold
Open the same symbol and leave it across the turn of the trading day. Compare the statement with the first rehearsal. Whatever is new belongs to the carrying, and that is the line the swap-free arrangement is about.
The several-night hold
Leave a position for a run of nights. Watch whether the carrying cost repeats per night, and whether anything else appears once several days have passed — some instruments carry a fixed administration fee at that point.
Three rehearsals, one symbol, three statements to set side by side. Everything the segment argues about is visible in the differences between them.
What a demo cannot answer
- Whether your real account carries swap-free status. A practice account is not that account. The Personal Area is where the status is confirmed.
- Whether a specific symbol is eligible. That belongs to the broker’s instrument terms, and Exness support is available 24/7 to answer it.
- How it feels when the money is real. Demo results don’t guarantee the same results on a real account, and nothing was subtracted from you during the rehearsal.
- Whether trading is permissible for you. A personal and scholarly question that no terminal is equipped to settle.
CFDs are complex instruments and trading is risky; a rehearsal that went well is not a forecast.
Questions asked during practice
Does a demo account have a swap-free version?
Treat the demo as a rehearsal of behaviour, not as evidence about status. The status question belongs to a real account and to the Personal Area.
How long can a demo be kept?
It is free and has no time limit, which is what makes a several-night rehearsal practical.
Does the demo use the same platforms?
Yes — MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, the Exness Terminal and the Exness Trade app show it the same way a real account is shown.
The statement shows no cost column at all. What now?
Look for the column settings first. An absent column is a display choice, on a demo as much as anywhere else.
Is one night enough to conclude anything?
Enough to learn where to look. Conclusions about a symbol or an account need the broker, not a single statement.
